Las Vegas' roster is up

on MiLB.com. Some notes:

The pitching is where the prospects are, though there aren't many. LHP Greg Miller makes his third appearance with the 51's after trying to find his control there in '06 and '07. Miller started last year in the rotation, but I'm not sure what the Dodgers' plans are for him this season. RHP Justin Orenduff moves up to the 51's and is a final step away from breaking into the bigs. RHP Jon Meloan is apparently going to start this year in the rotation, though I'm not sure he'll end up there. RHP Jason Johnson, RHP Chan Ho Park, RHP Miguel Pinango and LHP Eric Stults are the candidates for the other two spots.

The infield is completely devoid of anything resembling a prospect. C AJ Ellis has shown some decent on-base ability, but he'll be 27 in a week. 31 year old 1B John Lindsey hit 30 HR between Jacksonville and Vegas in 2007. Utility man extraordinare Ramon Martinez could play 2B or SS. Kevin Howard could play 2B or 3B. Terry Tiffee is limited to the corners. Rex Rundgren has a cool name.

The outfield has a single prospect, Xavier Paul, who has the speed to play CF but it probably better suited to play RF due to his sometimes circuitous routes. Paul's OF arm has graded as the best in the system the past 5 years running. Wilkin Ruan had 20 OF assists last season with Vegas and Jason Repko also has a good arm. 32 year old George Lombard had an impressive spring with the Dodgers, hitting .474 with 3 HR. John-Ford Griffin hit 26 HR last season with Toronto's Triple A affiliate.
