Minor League Recap - 4/13/07

Triple A - Las Vegas won 5-1

Tony Abreu - 1 for 3, R, BB

Andy LaRoche - 0 for 4
Delwyn Young - 1 for 4

Eric Hull - 2 IP, 0 Hits, 0 R, BB, 3 K's

A well pitched game from Joe Mays propelled the 51's to their 5th straight win. Mays went 7 innings, allowing just a Solo HR along with 3 singles and 2 walks. Hull was hitless in his 2 inning stint and has lowered his season ERA to 2.25. At the plate, James Loney had a two out bases-clearing triple, which put the 51's ahead for good. Abreu drew his second walk of the season, while Young extended his hitting streak to 6 games. LaRoche is struggling, batting just .172 so far on the young season. Greg Miller makes his second start of the season tomorrow at 7pm.

BJ LaMura came in for the 5th and lasted until the 7th inning, when he was relieved by Wesley Wright with 1 out in the inning. LaMura allowed a run, while Wright maintained his scoreless season. On offense, Hu's back and collected a single that preceded his first stolen base of the year. Raglani homered and drew a walk. Dunlap's 1 for 4 performance raised his BA to .200. High A - Inland Empire lost 7-5

Ivan De Jesus Jr - 1 for 5, RBI, 2 K's
Blake DeWitt - 1 for 5
Lucas May - 0 for 2, R, 2 BB
Russell Mitchell - 0 for 2, R, BB, K, HBP
Jamie Hoffman - 0 for 3, BB, K

Javy Guerra - 3 IP, 6 Hits, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K's

The 66ers scored 5 runs in the second inning but Lancaster responded scoring in each inning from the 3rd to the 7th and ended up with the loss. Javy Guerra got the start and was very wild. He loaded the bases in each of his 3 innings, but only gave up one run on a solo homer. He'll take some time to get back to his old self. May, Mitchell and Hoffman all went hitless but managed to reach base via the walk (And HBP in Mitchell's case). De Jesus went 1 for 5 but is still hitting .333. DeWitt also collected a hit. IE stays at home for another tomorrow at 7pm.

Low A - Great Lakes lost 6-2

Trayvon Robinson - 1 for 4, R, 2 K's
Preston Mattingly - 1 for 4, 3 K's
Josh Bell - 0 for 4, RBI, K, 2 E's
Carlos Santana - 0 for 2, 2 BB
Scott Van Slyke - 0 for 3, 3 K's

Steven Johnson - 2 IP, 6 Hits, 5 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 3 K's
Miguel Sanfler - 2 IP, Hit, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K's

The Loons fell behind early and never recovered. Johnson gave up 3 runs in the second inning and allowed 3 baserunners in the 3rd without recording an out before leaving the game. His ERA skyrocketted to 7.50. The bullpen was great though, allowing just 1 unearned run over 7 innings. Robinson and Francisco Lizarraga accounted for the only two runs which were scored in the 6th inning. Most of the Loons' hitters are struggling, with Bell not only hitting under a buck but committed his 4th and 5th errors of the season. I guess the good news is they can only get better. Great Lakes takes on Lansing tomorrow at 4pm.
