Minor League Recap - 4/30/07

Triple A - Las Vegas lost 6-3

Tony Abreu - 1 for 6, 2 K's
James Loney - 1 for 5
Matt Kemp - 1 for 4, BB
Andy LaRoche - 2 for 3, 2B, R, 2 BB, CS, E

The bullpen let the 51's down, allowing a run in the 9th and 3 more in the 11th. Eric Hull blew his first save of the season and Hamulack drew his first loss. Abreu is struggling, collecting just 1 hit in his last 3 games. However, he's still hitting .344. LaRoche had a nice game and his average is up to .247. Loney is down to .263 and Kemp is at .304. Greg Miller gets the start tomorrow night at 7:11pm.

Double A - Jacksonville won 9-6

Chin Lung Hu - 1 for 3, R, BB
Xavier Paul - 1 for 4, HR (2), 3 RBI, R, K
Cory Dunlap - 0 for 4, 2 K's
Anthony Raglani - 1 for 4, HR (6), 2 RBI, R, K, E

Mike Megrew - 5.1 IP, 6 Hits, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K's

Megrew earned his 2nd win of the season as the Suns offense heated up. His ERA on the season is 3.76. Chin Lung Hu drew just his 3rd walk of the season and is maintaining his average at .337. Paul hit his 2nd HR in 3 games and has hit safely in the past 10. Raglani hit his 6th shtonk, his only hit in the past 4 games. Still, his OPS is 1.067. Dunlap's 0'fer lowered his average to .205. Jacksonville finishes up their series with Montgomery tomorrow morning at 8:05am.

High A - Inland Empire lost 1-0

Ivan De Jesus Jr - 0 for 4
Lucas May - 0 for 3, K

Travis Denker - 1 for 3, K

The real story of this game was Modesto pitcher Brandon Hynick, who pitched a CG shutout and has not allowed an earned run this season. The 66ers were held to just 2 hits (Denker singled and Harper doubled). Overshadowed by this was James McDonald, who had a strong outing. He allowed just 1 ER on 2 hits and 3 walks over 5 innings while striking out 7. Over his last 3 outings (16 IP), he's allowed just 4 ER while striking out 20. The Empire heads to Lake Elsinore for a 3 game set, starting tomorrow at 7:07pm.

Low A - Great Lakes won 1-0

Clayton Kershaw - 6 IP, 6 Hits, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K's

Another strong outing from Kershaw, who's allowed just 2 ER in his last 4 starts. On the year, he's sporting an ERA of 1.08 and he's struck out 35 batters in 25 innings. The struggling Loons' offense managed only 1 run, when Francisco Lizarraga walked, stole 2nd, went to 3rd on a bad throw and was cashed in by a Matt Berezay sac fly. Santana raised his average to .125. Berezay had the scoring fly ball, but also went 3 for 3 with a double. Great Lakes stays in the Quad Cities for another game tomorrow at 4pm.
