Minor League Recap - 4/25/07

Triple A - Las Vegas was off today

Double A - Jacksonville lost 13-12

Chin Lung Hu - 1 for 6, RBI, K
Xavier Paul - 2 for 4, 2B, RBI, R, BB, K
Anthony Raglani - 2 for 4, 2B, HR (5), 3 RBI, 2 R, BB
Cory Dunlap DNP

Mike Megrew - 6 IP, 14 Hits, 11 R (7 ER), 3 BB, 4 K's

A slugfest capped off the West Tenn series, with 9 runs scored in the last 2 innings, but the Suns fell just a run short in the end. Megrew had a very shaky outing with a few defensive miscues around him, but I'm hoping he didnt make too many pitches. I expect him to possibly skip his next start. Catcher AJ Ellis came in to pitch the final 2 innings, allowing a pair of runs. At the dish, Raglani kept the XBH's coming, with his 6th double and 5th HR of the year. His SLG is back up to .742 and he's reached base in 15 straight. Paul had a nice game, hitting his 5th double and drawing his 11th walk of the year. However, he still doesnt have a HR this season and is slugging just .333. Hu's average is down to .321 and the only criticism I have of him thus far is he's drawn just 2 walks in 18 games. Hopefully he'll work on taking pitches and getting deep in the count. Jacksonville takes tomorrow off to travel home and opens up a 5 game set with Montgomery, starting Friday at 4pm.

High A - Inland Empire lost 4-2

Ivan De Jesus Jr - 0 for 5, RBI, 3 K's
Blake DeWitt - 0 for 4, K
Lucas May - 1 for 4, RBI
Travis Denker - 1 for 1
Russell Mitchell - 0 for 1

James McDonald - 6 IP, 2 Hits, ER, 0 BB, 7 K's

A brilliant outing from McDonald was wasted by the 66ers inability to score runs. McDonald, who allowed 9 ER in his first two outings (7.1 innings), has allowed just 3 in his last two outings (11 innings). After a double was cashed in by a sac fly in the first, McDonald allowed only 2 baserunners over the next 5 innings. He began his career as a hitter and he's still just 22. No word on his stuff. Mario Alvarez allowed 3 runs in his inning of work and Brent Leach wriggled out of 2 hits and 2 walks to work a scoreless 8th. Lucas May extended his hitting streak to 11 games and his base-reaching streak to 13. He's batting .370. On the flip side, he allowed his 8th passed ball of the year and must continue to improve his defense behind the plate. De Jesus and DeWitt are hitting under .250, while Denker and Mitchell are hitting .308 and .344 respectively. The Empire ends their series with Stockton tomorrow at 7pm.
