Minor League Recap - 4/20/07
Triple A - Las Vegas won 9-5
James Loney - 2 for 4, R, BB, CS
Andy LaRoche - 1 for 5, 2 K's
Delwyn Young - 2 for 4, R, 2 RBI, BB, K
Tony Abreu DNP
Eric Hull - 1 IP, 2 Hits, 0 R, 0 BB, K
An 8 run 4th inning put the 51's ahead for good. Choo Freeman capped it off with a grand slam. Loney raised his average to .266, though he's not going to be stealing many bases. Young also had a couple hits and LaRoche finally got in on the action in the 8th inning. Abreu had the night off. Travis Smith allowed 2 ER over 6 innings. Casey Hoorelbeke struggled, allowing 3 runs while only recording 2 outs. Matt White went 1.1 innings, allowing 2 hits and no runs. Hull closed it out, lowering his ERA to 1.80. Vegas heads to Sacramento for a 4 game road trip, starting tomorrow night at 7pm.

Double A - Jacksonville won 6-5
Chin Lung Hu - 2 for 5, 2B, R, K
Xavier Paul - 1 for 4, RBI, R, 2 K's
Cory Dunlap - 1 for 3, 2 R, BB, 2 K's
Anthony Raglani - 1 for 3, 3B, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K's
Mike Megrew - 5 IP, 7 Hits, 5 ER, 2 BB, 8 K's
Jon Meloan - 1.2 IP, 0 Hits, 0 R, 0 BB, K
It figures that Megrew would get his first win of the season in his worst outing thus far. His ERA is still just 2.65. Meloan collected his second save of the season, pitching 1.2 perfect innings and increasing his strikeout to walk ratio to 14 to 0. His ERA is 0.96. On offense, Hu has been on fire. He has 9 hits in his last 15 at bats, including 4 doubles, and is now hitting .327. Paul, Dunlap and Raglani all collected hits. Raglani has reached base safely in his last 10 games, and has collected an extra base hit in 8 of the 10. The Suns head to West Tenn for a 5 game series starting tomorrow at 4pm.

High A - Inland Empire won 5-3
Travis Denker - 1 for 5, 2 R, SB
Ivan De Jesus Jr - 2 for 5, 2 R, K, SB
Lucas May - 3 for 5, 2B, HR (6), 3 RBI, R
Russell Mitchell - 1 for 5, 2B, 2 K's
Jamie Hoffman- 0 for 4, BB, K
Blake DeWitt - 1 for 5
Yhency Brazoban - 1.2 IP, 2 Hits, ER, BB, K
James McDonald - 5 IP, 3 Hits, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K's
Another close game for the Empire, as this one went 10 innings before Lucas May collected his third hit, an RBI double, and Drew Locke drew a bases loaded walk to put the 66ers ahead. Ramon Troncoso pitched 2 perfect innings to end the game, walking a pair and striking out a pair. Brazoban made another rehab appearance, and his ability to pitch is far more important than the stats he posts. McDonald was solid if unspectacular in his 5 innings, though his ERA is still just north of 8. Lucas May was once again the star of the game, hitting his league-leading 6th HR to go along with his 4th double. If his defense behind the plate is coming along half as well as his offense, he'll be one hell of a catcher. After taking the first game of the series, IE meets with Lancaster again tomorrow at 5pm.

Low A - Great Lakes lost 3-0
Trayvon Robinson - 0 for 4, 2 K's
Preston Mattingly - 1 for 4, K, E
Josh Bell - 1 for 2, BB
David Sutherland - 0 for 4, 2 K's
Scott Van Slyke - 0 for 4, 3 K's
Kenley Jansen - 0 for 3, BB, PB
Another day, another poor showing for the Loons' offense. Mattingly committed his 5th error of the season, leading me to wonder how much longer it'll be before he moves to the OF. Josh Bell is back over the Mendoza line, though the power he showed in the Pioneer League hasnt been evident in Michigan (1 XBH in 12 games). Van Slyke apparently needs another session with his dad, Jansen is back to his old ways and Robinson's average is down to .255. Pitching was alright, as Cody White allowed just 1 ER over 6 innings. His ERA is just under 2. The Looney Toons begins a series with Cedar Rapids tomorrow at 4pm.
