Minor League Recap - 4/17/07

Triple A - Las Vegas won 5-0

Tony Abreu - 0 for 3, R, BB
James Loney - 1 for 4, K
Andy LaRoche - 2 for 3, 2 R, BB

DJ Houlton pitched a gem as the 51's shutout Colorado Springs. Houlton went 7 scoreless, allowing just 3 hits and a walk while striking out 7. His ERA through 3 starts is 1.62. Matt White allowed a walk and struck out two to end the game. Offensively, Abreu went hitless but drew his 6th walk of the season. LaRoche continued to raise his average and it's now up to .227. Loney played RF and is still hitting just .245. Vegas faces the Sky Sox again tomorrow at 7:11pm.

Double A - Jacksonville lost 10-2

Chin Lung Hu - 0 for 4, RBI
Xavier Paul - 0 for 3, R, BB, K
Cory Dunlap - 1 for 4, K
Anthony Raglani - 2 for 3, 2B, R, K

So much for the scoreless innings streak. William Juarez allowed 10 ER in 4 innings, raising his ERA from 0.00 to 5.00. The pen went 4 scoreless, including an appearance from catcher AJ Ellis, who allowed a hit and struck out a batter in the 8th. At the plate, the Suns were held to just 5 hits by Brewers' prospect Manny Parra. Over the past few games, Hu's average has dropped from the .300's to .225. Paul's is down to .227 and Dunlap actually raised his to .184. The lone bright spot has been Raglani, whose seen his average rise to .289 after collecting hits in the past 7 games, including four extra basehits in the past four (2 doubles and 2 HR). Jacksonville stays in Huntsville and plays tomorrow at 8:35am.

High A - Inland Empire lost 6-5

Ivan De Jesus Jr - 0 for 3, E

Russell Mitchell - 1 for 4, 2B, R
Jamie Hoffman - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 R, BB, K

Yhency Brazoban - 1 IP, 0 Hits, 0 R, 0 BB, K
Jesus Castillo - 5 IP, 6 Hits, 6 R (5 ER), 2 BB, 6 K's

The 66ers played their third 1 run game, but came out on the losing end this time. Yhency Brazoban, recovering from Tommy John surgery, made his first appearance of the year. He was followed by Jesus Castillo who struggled. Castillo's ERA on the year is 7.62. On O, De Jesus Jr's batting average dropped below .300 and committed his 4th error of the season. DeWitt also went hitless, lowering his average to .235. Mitchell, Hoffman and May are all still hitting over .300. The Empire continues their series with High Desert tomorrow at 7pm.

Low A - Great Lakes lost 4-2

Josh Wall - 4 IP, 5 Hits, 3 R (2 ER), BB, 4 K's
Miguel Sanfler - 3 IP, 3 Hits, ER, BB, 0 K's

Great Lakes lost their 5th straight, scoring just 9 runs over that span. Trayvon Robinson collected his 12th single of the season, keeping his batting average at .300 and maintaining a 6 game hitting streak. Josh Bell had his second consecutive multi-hit game. Carlos Santana had a forgettable night, going hitless with a couple miscues behind the plate. On the mound, Josh Wall had a decent outing, allowing 2 earned runs in 4 innings, an improvement from his first start of the season when he gave up 4 earned in 3.2 innings. Miguel Sanfler allowed his first run of the season in his longest outing thus far. Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Loons tomorrow at 4pm.
