Minor League Recap - 5/23/07

Triple A - Las Vegas won 6-0

Matt Kemp - 2 for 5, 2B, K

Hong Chih Kuo - 4 IP, 4 Hits, 0 R, BB, 4 K's

Hong Chih Kuo and Eric Stults combined for the 51's 2nd shutout win of the season. Kuo, who had spent a few days up with the big club, made 62 pitches over his 4 innings of work; 40 were strikes. He's expected to take Brett Tomko's place in the major league rotation, according to Vin Scully. Stults, making his first relief appearance of the season, allowed just 1 hit over 5 innings. He was coming off a very successful start in which he gave up just 1 run over 6 innings. He earned his 4th win of the year. Kemp hit his 10th double. Loney did not play. Vegas finishes their series with Tacoma tomorrow at 6:05pm.

Double A - Jacksonville lost 16-11

Chin Lung Hu - 0 for 2
Xavier Paul - 1 for 2, E
Cory Dunlap - 0 for 3, R, 2 BB
Anthony Raglani - 1 for 2, HR (8), 2 RBI, 3 R, 3 BB, CS

Justin Orenduff - 2.2 IP, 9 Hits , 7 R (3 ER), 2 BB

A shutout in the PCL followed by a slugfest in the SL? That might be a sign of the apocolypse. Tennessee scored single runs in the 1st and 2nd, then dropped a 5 spot in the 3rd, followed by 7 more in the 4th. All of Orenduff's earned runs came on 2 HR, doubling his season total. He also earned his first decision of the season. Brian Akin had the worst of it, giving up 8 ER in 2.1 innings. Mark Alexander gave up a run in 2 innings of work, and utility man Jimmy Rohan struck out 2 in a hitless frame. Dunlap and Raglani combined for 5 walks; Dunlap now has 21 walks and 21 strikeouts. Raglani leads the league with 31 free passes and raised his OPS back over .900. Hu went hitless and was replaced early, leading me to beleive he's playing with a boo boo. Paul committed his 2nd error of the year and is hitting .278. The Suns look to rebound tomorrow at 4:15pm.

Ivan De Jesus Jr - 2 for 5, 2 R
