A strong start from Miguel Pinango was wasted as the 51's lost in the 9th inning. Pinango lowered his ERA to 3.55 and, while he allowed 8 baserunners, 5 were erased on the basepaths thanks to 3 pickoffs and 2 runners caught stealing. Andy LaRoche hit his 7th double. Delwyn Young's average fell to .296. The 51's play Tuscon again tomorrow at 6pm.

Alberto Bastardo earned his 4th win in a pitcher's duel that saw the 66ers maintain their tie for first place. Bastardo allowed just 1 ER over 6.2 innings, lowering his ERA to 5.17. Cory Wade picked up his 4th save, allowing just a solo HR and 2 walks. Lucas May has 4 multi-hit games in a row, raising his average in June to .385. Ivan De Jesus Jr committed his 11th error. The Empire faces off with Bakersfield again tomorrow at 7:30pm.

The game almost got away from the Loons late, but they held on to pull to 3 games under .500. Cody White earned his 7th win of the year, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings. Yulkin German and Thomas Melgarejo combined for 3 shutout innings before recently demoted Matthew Gomez de Segura came in for the 9th. His ERA in the Cally league was 10.32 and it skyrocketed in his Low A debut, as he allowed 6 ER in only 0.1 innings. His Loons ERA is 162! Luckily, Miguel Sanfler came in and finished off the game for his 2nd save. Josh Bell hit his 14th double, while Carlos Santana raised his average to .181. Preston Mattingly's basehit was an RBI single in the 9th. The Loons return to Dow Diamond for a 9 game homestand, starting tomorrow with Lansing at 4pm.
