Triple A - Las Vegas lost 6-4
James Loney - 1 for 5, 2B, K
Spike Lundberg got hit hard early as the 51's couldnt keep up with Nashville. Lundberg allowed 6 ER in 2.1 innings, leading to his 4th loss and raising his ERA to 7.04. The good news is that BJ LaMura, Matt White, Casey Hoorelbeke and Dwayne Pollok combined for 5.2 innings of 1 hit shutout ball. Loney collected his 15th double, while Matt Kemp didnt play for the 2nd game in a row. Nashville plays host to Vegas tomorrow at 5pm.

Double A - Jacksonville lost 3-2
Xavier Paul - 1 for 4, HR (6), 2 RBI, R
Chin Lung Hu - 1 for 4, K
Cory Dunlap - 0 for 4, K
Anthony Raglani - 0 for 3, 2 K's, CS
The Suns were held at bay by White Sox prospect Gio Gonzalez. Paul became the 1st lefty to hit a HR against Gonzalez this season, his 6th of the year. Hu's average is down to .335 but he's hit in 6 of his last 7. Dunlap is just 5 for his last 29. Raglani is hitting .235 over his last 10 games. Jacksonville stays in Birmingham for 2 more and play tomorrow at 4:05pm.

Jason Schmidt - 6 IP, 2 Hits, 0 R, BB, 7 K's
Jason Schmidt made his first rehab start since going on the DL and had positive results. He made 71 pitches, topping out at 91mph and sitting at 88mph. Marlon Arias came in and promptly blew at 1-0 lead, allowing the Quakes to tie the game in the top of the 8th. But the 66ers came right back in the bottom of the 8th with an Ivan De Jesus Jr walk being cashed in by a Ryan Rogowski double and went on to win another pitcher's duel. A total of 18 batters struck out in this game, and May and Mitchell each flirted with the dreaded "golden sombrero." Denker hit his 9th double and De Jesus Jr drew 2 walks but also committed his 8th error. The Empire begins a 3 game set with Lake Elsinore tomorrow at 7:05pm.

The Loons fell behind early and failed to mount a comeback. Starter Thomas Melgarejo lasted just 3 innings, allowing 7 runs on 9 hits. Garrett White, Michael Gardner and Yulkin German combined for 6 shutout innings, scattering just 3 hits. Josh Bell's hitting streak ended at 15 but he managed to draw a walk and has reached base in 16 straight. Robinson also drew a walk but dropped his average to .261. Preston Mattingly and Scott Van Slyke didnt play. Great Lakes again hosts Dayton tomorrow at 4pm.
